Spotify’s mobile campaign banner appears at the best time possible

Spotify makes great use of a campaing banner in onboarding users.

Spotify uses a campaign banner for its mobile app that appears when users are on their profile page. The banner encourages users to “tell a friend” about Spotify to gift them 2 months worth of free Spotify.

Why it’s great:

Right place, right time - The campaign banner appears when a user is on their profile, where they can also view their followers and the users they follow. This is the exact time a user might be thinking about a friend who might not be using Spotify, and such a banner appearing on this page thus makes more sense.

Good copy - From the way the copy worded and formatted to how the microcopy is placed and the call to action on the button, Spotify’s banner has great copy that is encouraging and friendly.

Non-disruptive design - Though the campaign banner is rather large for a UX pattern of its kind, it is only natural on mobile devices. What matters is that it doesn’t necessarily become an obstacle for a user trying to perform an action within the app.
