Genshin Impact uses a tooltip and pulsing highlights to urge the users to try out a new feature.

Genshin Impact uses a tooltip and pulsing highlights to urge the users to try out a new feature. The onboarding UX pattern does not obstruct the main functionalities of the game, however, it doesn’t have a skip button.

Why it’s great:

Simple and short - Though the new shortcut is a major change to the gameplay, the game keeps the explanation short and simple to make sure all users are aware of the change.

Non-intrusive (almost) - Genshin Impact almost never uses modals or other more intrusive UX patterns when onboarding to new features or updated content. Likewise, the use of one single tooltip enhances this sentiment.

Great use of highlighting - Genshin Impact uses a unique type of highlighting around the areas it shows users during onboarding. Thanks to this highlighting, users can easily be onboarded to new features without the need for a modal or banner.
