Canva’s new feature announcement modal prompts hands-on experience

Canva announces its new feature using a non-intrusive tooltip which prompts a full-screen modal and a hands-on experience.

Canva uses a full-screen modal to make its new feature announcement of the new Magic Design function. The feature is first introduced with a long piece of copy and images at first, but when users decide to try it out, a hands-on experience takes place on the overlay window of the modal.

Why it’s great:

Good design with visuals - The full-screen modal itself is an example of good modal design with digestible copy, tiny icons, visual hierarchy, and visual aid in the form of gifs.

Hands-on experience - Because Canva offers a hands-on experience without even leaving the overlay window the modal uses, users are more likely to adopt the feature while being subject to less friction as well.

Good copy - The copy for the modal, the sandbox, and the modal after the hands-on experience is complete all feature great copy both for short-form and CTA button levels.
