Asana’s Onboarding checklist shows around with ease
Asana's Home page holds a five-step onboarding checklist widget that takes new users to key parts of the tool and ends with a small celebration.
New Asana accounts find an onboarding checklist sitting among the widgets on the Home page. At the time of the recording, it has five steps: Customize Home, Continue setting up your project, Download mobile & desktop apps, Browse integrations and Personalize your profile. Each step opens a panel with an illustration, one line of explanation and a single button that takes you to the right place in the tool. Finished steps get a green tick, and closing the last one plays a celebration animation.
Why it works
- Part of the page: the checklist is one widget among others on Home, so it's there when you want it without blocking anything, and a close button removes it.
- Five steps, one action each: every step has a single button and a "Next step" link, so it's short enough to finish and still covers the main areas of the tool.
- A milestone you notice: the celebration at the end marks the first thing you've completed in Asana, and the ticks along the way show progress before then.
